IRAQ - February 2003 - NASYO Peace Conference
The Non Aligned Students and Youth Organisation (NASYO) held a peace conference in Baghdad from 19-21 February 2003. The conference was attended by about 400 delegates from 32 countries and focused on the international situation around Iraq and the need for action to correct it.
Delegates at the conference discovered the warmth and hospitality of the people, and some of the culture of Iraq. They learned about the present situation and the suffering of the Iraqi people over the last 20 years. There was widespread condemnation of the current rush to war and delegates all joined the plea of the Iraqi people for peace.
