Jenin Refugee Camp - West Bank - 23 April 2002

Jenin Refugee Camp was invaded by the Israeli military in April 2002. Existing streets were not wide enough to allow tanks to get to the centre of town. Residents report that bulldozers were used to break down houses and widen the road. Reports suggest that people were trapped and killed inside collapsed houses and medical assistance was not allowed to reach injured people.                Click on photos to enlarge

Shown here are collapsed buildings with local people digging among the rubble, searching for missing friends, relatives, possessions. An U.N. fact-finding committee has been refused entry by the Israeli government as at 1 May 2002.
